Feb 11, 2012 at 6:02 comment added Grant Well in my professors defense he isn't on the game dev side he is more of an animator/modeler. He knew that it did convert to tris but didn't know the math reason as to why for rendering. But yes he probably should have known.
Dec 20, 2011 at 17:56 comment added Maximus Minimus +1 for your question but a big -1 to your professor. This is basic stuff that he should have known as well as he knows the back of his own hand, and a sign that he's a little out of touch with developments over the past 15-odd years.

Mar 9, 2011 at 16:49 comment added user744 @Macke: Quadratic as in "quadratic equation", not quadratic as in "quadrilateral". It doesn't use quads but rather a quadratic curve defined by 9 points. stason.org/TULARC/pc/3d-graphics-cards-faq/…
Mar 9, 2011 at 15:23 comment added Macke Somewhat related, The NVidia NV1 used quadtratic texture mapping (which uses quads), instead of triangles/polygons. It was not big hit, to say the least. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NV1.
