The best thing about Kodu is that it gives you a limited selection of things to use (a few characters with unique characteristics, apples, missiles,...) so you're not overwhelmed by a blank canvas, but you have to be creative in putting the things together and making something neat. It reminds me of game designer exercises - e.g. given a deck of cards and some dice, make a game. Also, programming the game is very easy and visual, so you can do it with the Xbox 360 controller without a problem and it's very easy but also completely powerful. I recommend the Xbox version.
