Ashkariel Eter

Hi! My name is Josh.

Currently I'm working at Plarium on .NET, Actionscript and Unity3D projects. I like architecture, playing with abstractions, recursion and so on. In programming I love how you can abstract from real world, solve problem and then reuse solution with your human being ability of finding similar characteristics in systems and entities. This is so math.

But what I truly love is science. My favorite disciplines are atom physics, astrophysics, math, some philosophy (Schopenhauer, for example, or Kant), evolutionary, neuro and molecular biology. All my knowledge I get from books, which I read every day. Honestly, my level is near amateur, but inspiration and aspiration to new information move me forward.

I'm materialist, rationalist, sometimes solipsist, but preferly objectivist, realist and reductionist (actually, we have a lot of words with -ist suffix). I believe that Universe is knowable, so I'm glad to learn it with pleasure.

I love reading Richard Dawkins, Richard Feynman, Lawrence Krauss, Christopher Hitchens, Steven Hawking, Douglas Hofstadter, Eliezer Yudkowsky (HPMOR, yes), Carl Sagan, Brian Greene and other scientists. Can't imagine my life without these guys and this is not namedropping.

My favorite books are "Surely, You're Joking Mr Feynman" and "Gödel, Escher, Bach". I had the best moments of my life reading this, really. Also I can't help stop thinking about "Harry Potter and Methods of Rationality" as the best book in fiction (and science-popular) genre.

Thanks for reading and good luck!
