Maybe I shouldn't be asking for this but I cant find any tutorial about it. How do I get the key pressed and the character representation of it in Xorg like in Win32 that I know ESC_KEY is the ESC_KEY no matter the keyboard layout. Right now I only can get the physical key but not the virtual key.

Edit: I am using xlib and I dont want to use a higher level library like glfw or sdl since I want to learn to interface with xorg

  • \$\begingroup\$ Which tools are you using for events ? Low level (like xcb), high level like xlib, or some higher api for window and event handling ? How about xkbcommon.org/doc/current/index.html, or using the ascii codes ? Or some api like glfw or sdl ? Need more info ... \$\endgroup\$ – user144188 Oct 10 '20 at 23:03
