I'm developing a 3rd person platformer.

My Character class (the default third person template class):

PlatformerCharacter : ACharacter

My MovementComp class:

PlatformerMovementComponent : UCharacterMovementComponent

I have seen this article: https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Custom_Character_Movement_Component

However, this seems very outdated.

So in any case, if I'm approaching this the wrong way:

How do I have my PlatformerCharacter use this PlatformerMovementComponent instead of using the ACharacter's UCharacterMovementComponent?

  • \$\begingroup\$ Well, you have to do it as stated in the wiki: in your character constructor you have to pass your CMC to the initializer for the exact component name as the original that defined as acharacter::CharacterMovementComponentName \$\endgroup\$ – ColdSteel Oct 23 '19 at 23:54
