I was just visiting Google Play Games Services guide for signing In in Unity. I just came to know there that Google Play Games also provide services for Multiplayer. I'm currently working on my Indie "Turn Based" Multiplayer game using Unity and was thinking to use Firebase. (Photon seems to be very expensive as compared to the revenue I estimate from expected number of users). I could not get pricing details from the guide. So, my questions are: a) Is GPGS (for Unity) Multiplayer free? b) Is there any limitation of number of users (if its free)? c) Do I need to host the GPGS services on my own server?

Just "extra" question -> If GPGS Multiplayer services is free, no limitations of users and hosted by GPGS itself (if these are true), why is Google providing this sophisticated feature for free?

They'll have the most up to date and authoritative answers for you. If you don't mind an answer from random strangers, then don't forget to search first to see if someone has already answered this question \$\endgroup\$ – DMGregory Apr 8 at 14:08

  • \$\begingroup\$ As Pikalek suggests, can you find a way to rephrase this into a question about your game's use of the service? How have you tried setting up Google Play Games Services so far? Do you observe unexpected limits when you go to inspect your quotas as instructed in the service's documentation? Have you had to sign up for billing or received a bill when you didn't expect to? Have you contacted their Sales team and gotten an answer you need help interpreting? We'll often be better equipped to help you solve issues with setting up your game, than to answer policy questions about a 3rd party's service. \$\endgroup\$ – DMGregory Apr 8 at 16:48
