Fluid body physics for enemy engulfment How do I procedurally animate a cell eating another cell?

The entities in my game are soft-body, amorphous blobscells. I'd like to create an animation where enemies are engulfed by the player's blobcell. See That is, I want to generate a "cell eating another cell"-effect. See this video for the type of motion I want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO_vOFFf1uQ

I'm considering using fluid dynamics to achieve this, but I'm lost as to where to start. I'm working in Unity2D, and Fluvio doesn't seem to provide what I need. Does anyone have advice on the best way for me to proceed?
