comment Where can i get the openal sdk for c++?
OpenAL is an unmaintained piece of shit. The fact of the matter is Creative Labs hijacked and proprietarized the original OpenAL code (it is now on 2.1), the result was a bunch of systems are stuck on old OpenAL 1.1 code, and are not able to move forward because beyond OpenAL 1.1 is proprietary.

But it's dynamic and makes for easy changing of settings during playtesting. Possibly not that useful for blocktypes though. You could also store a map of map<BlockType,BlockProperties>, where each BlockType has a BlockProperties object (that lists all its properties).

You don't need to publish Emi's contact info on the public internet -- I think it's a bit rude given that she actually responded

I like the idea of using pixel coloration to detect collision with different body parts.

@TrevorPowell Interestingly, the Russian translation of "Approved" translates to 2 other words whose synonyms are "well-tried" or "time-tested" (I'm always fascinated by that sort of thing).

comment Can Achievement systems be implemented later in development?
Yes, I'm doing this now. It was fairly easy to link in shotsFired++ into the part where new bullets are instantiated, and shotsHit++ in the part where a bullet impacts another player. It helped that I tracked who shot what bullet (because I use the information to track who got what kill etc)

comment I get GL_INVALID_VALUE after calling glTexSubImage2D
To clarify, RGB8 uses 8 bits each for red, green, blue, alpha, while RGB uses a variable number of bits for each rgb. Also, "GL_INVALID_OPERATION is generated if type is one of GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE_3_3_2, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE_2_3_3_REV, GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT_5_6_5, or GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT_5_6_5_REV and format is not GL_RGB."
