comment Is there any relation between Game Theory and Game Development?
Game Theory talks about how people make decisions when there is uncertainty, which is exactly what you want your players to be doing when playing your game. This is more about game design than game programming, both fall under game development which this site doesn't seem to understand for some reason.

Hmm, not really. Game Theory has everything to do with game mechanics. There's this idea of game economies that game theory can influence the design of. This book amazon.com/Game-Mechanics-Advanced-Design-Voices/dp/0321820274/… talks about how to model a game economy using machinations. Game Development = game programming + game design + game < >. Also, if high level algorithms is the same as game rules in your book then you're correct.

Byte56: Wouldn't game development include game design( game developers magazine does) and I think game theory applies to game design. gamersinfo.net/articles/… blog.wolfire.com/2009/01/game-theory-applied-to-game-design

comment Spreadsheets in Game Design?
Knowing how a game designer uses a tool can provide a lot of information as I think it has with the answers provided. For instance, if you asked a carpenter how he uses a hammer you can gather a lot of info about why he's using the hammer.

comment Spreadsheets in Game Design?
For someone learning about game design, wouldn't a decent approach be to understand how game designers who've had some success do their job? Following the same methodology of knowledge extraction as you would if you were designing an expert system. I fully understand that I may find a better way of doing things. This question was asked more out of curiosity.

comment What is the best degree Computer Engineering or Software Engineering?
I would think about what you want to do in the game industry. If you are wanting to work for a big company, I would ask myself why? I think it would be better to get a software engineering job and try to start your own game company after hours. If you do decide to go the indie route, I would say software engineering, but take psychology classes( learn as much about cognitive science as you can). Also take some art classes.

comment How to Use Images Instead Of Drawing Primitives
You should use cocos2d and read a tutorial. If you follow this advise you WILL save a lot of time. Unless this is a learning experience.
