I'm an Electrical Engineer with a focus on Image Processing, and also a self-taught game developer and software engineer. =D
I spent a lot of time as a 2D Flash Actionscript games developer, and am familiar with C, Actionscript, Javascript and Python. I aim to hone my skills in Lua and Python as scripting languages, learn Node.js, and develop games for the open Web platform and Android.
In an attempt to be a one-man programmer/artist team, I also do pencil sketching, digital painting, and 3D modeling. My tools are mainly Photoshop and Blender, as well as SoftImage. Check out my gallery here: http://cardinal4.deviantart.com
I'm bilingual in English and Chinese, and have minimal knowledge of Japanese.
My current research interests are Javascript, HTML5, EaselJS, Python and SoftImage.

What are the benefits of using a 2D game engine on Android? Animation is definitely something I'm leaving to the libraries. I think I'd try to build using just the SDK first. I feel I can't really make a decision until I really know the basics of how to do it using the SDK only, and thereby appreciate what the engine encapsulates away for us. |

What are the benefits of using a 2D game engine on Android? @Den To get some experience with Android and Java, and also just as a hobby project. It would be fun to just have some hands-on making it from basics, make it polished and playable, then release it for free. |

making a game in 2D(C++). SDL or openGL? Or, why not both? OpenGL is low-level enough that when in doubt, just use SDL. |

can a guy with embedded system background go into game development I think his question is directed more towards entering the industry, not just making it for fun and laughs. And how his existing expertise can benefit him. |

Amazing Jutsu (Technique) For your Rasengan example - Are you familiar with explosion spritesheets? (Go Google it) Something like that. The fireball gets larger with each frame. So you can have your Rasengan grow larger until the last few frames, then just loop the last few frames to have the sphere twirl around. And if you wanted Chidori, have a separate, lightning spritesheet and have it loop and zigzag. So diff attacks use diff spritesheets. |
