Visit my blog about programming, software development and language design.

If it's programming related, the I've done it. A plethora of languages. Many application domains. A lot of companies. Several countries.

I now spend my time working on the Leaf programming language.

comment Convert vector interpolation to quaternion interpolation? (Catmull-Rom)
The first con I don't have since my inputs are all valid unit quaternions (and no division is involved in the interpolation). The second con is not an issue for me since I'm just doing this for visual continuity and don't actually care about physical accuracy. The pairwise approach looks like it might be somewhat costly in comparison.

As q.w approaches 1 the precision here will be a problem, with a division by zero at q.w == 1.

Well, that seems to work for me. I don't know if it's producing the same results but it'll be fine for my use.

comment Creating blur with an alpha channel, incorrect inclusion of black
My textures are not premultiplied. The solution I found was to actually do the blurring in the premultiplied domain -- I found some references for image convolution with an alpha channel.

@msell, I am now using a convolution that does that, but I still get problems (though a lot less).

At first I though that. However, it is vitally important that I can detect an intersection on the walls as well. It'll happen often enough that the player will feel cheated if I don't.

And yes, bounding check will of course be done before. In this case a sphere check works.

My ray library doesn't include cylinders. I don't want to do the polygon level checks, I'm looking for an exact cylinder check (I don't want the test to be dependent on how I've created the mesh for the cylinder).
