comment How is the Call of Duty checkpoint system implemented?
Auto-saves at set intervals could mitigate the problem with #3.

comment Map with 20 million tiles makes game run out of memory, how do I avoid it?
What makes you think you have free memory? Are you running a 32-bit process inside a 64-bit OS?

comment How are realistic 3D faces created and animated in video games?
@DavidLively Wow... another great use for the Kinect. I wouldn't have thought of this, nice.

comment Name of the model in memory that you use for map collision detection?
For future reference, a more common term IMO is a Collision Hull.

comment One-way platforms in UDK
The non-collision list I mentioned is actually a variable that you would store in your custom Volume class. When the player initiates commandDrop, the player would be added to the list. This list could then be used in the collision methods to determine whether or not to ignore the collision (as opposed to shutting of collision to the entire volume which would cause all players on it to drop). I don't remember if you can choose to ignore the collisions though, as I haven't touched UScript in ages.

comment Where can I Find Free TOS or Privacy Policy Templates?
He really is spot on about getting someone with an actual law degree to work with you in creating a privacy policy though. I would guess that the defense of "But I used this privacy policy generator! You can't take me to court!" probably won't work out well.

comment C++ Namespace vs Reference passed around like crazy - Implement a quest journal
+1 - Adding the journal functionality to the Player class allows you to implement a multi-player addition much easier as well, as each player will have potentially differing quests.

comment How to design the attack class in an RPG game?
Just because this particular method isn't data-driven doesn't make it a bad choice and the hierarchy wouldn't be that deep anyways. It is simple but still powerful (the UnrealEngine is a perfect example of this) if done correctly (ie. no hard-coded values). Sure it has its downsides, but further down the development cycle of a data-driven system I'm sure its downsides are show. I think your basic OOP design is still a valid solution in this and if he wants on the fly editing of default values, it can be implemented on top of a hierarchy system just as easily.

comment how to breakdown my game project?
That second point is a particularly good one! I'm getting caught up in the details of my own 'engine' too, rather than my own game which is far more important!

And nice energy particle emitters at the point of contact that die out shortly after being spawned.

comment What languages are used to develop MMORPGs like EVE Online and WOW?
Good to hear. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything that just had a list of what they used. Developer journals are always interesting though, IMO :)
