I'm a programmer, graphic designer, web developer and drummer in two bands (Ludavico and The Blue Cats).

The core idea of the game I want to make is a space combat sim controlled not unlike Freelancer. I figure the best way to get started is to work on this "space flight" aspect first then go from there.

In fact, this is a really good way to learn about scripting and data-driven development. Create the "engine" for this and write the rest in scripts.
