comment Simplyfing/dissolving octree to simple boxes by adjacent octants with similar traits
Mind joining chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/35422/navigation-volume - I got some questions and given you have worked with this in the past, maybe you could help me out?

comment Why are resource collecting RTS games not popular nowadays?
Questions like this makes me a little sad about the workings of StackExchange. Wouldn't mind if there was a heavily integrated Discourse dedicated to each site so that we could extend our discussions there and ask some of the inappropriate questions.

Oh this one in comment I'm also familiar with. :P Wasn't that far off the track afterall. Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Hmm, where you linked the KD examples, you have to links that are exactly the same - is it just a duplicate paste, or there had to be another link in the latter one?

Sweet... Huge thanks (whenever huge + appreciation comes to mind..) for the materials! All those 4 nav-volume articles I am already familiar with - all have been stored offline and bookmarked. Haven't read through all of them with the greatest of detail (besides the Warframe, GDC one... octrees, you see?), though.

Damn, I looked at everything (octrees, bvh, bsp, uniform grids), but them mfckng kd's. Too much info on the net about octrees in this Minecraft'esque era. Say then... I can extract my desired exact "trigger zones" from KD-tree too, right? Just by popping the matching node(s).

Yeah, that's what I would look forward to ask if I were to bail this idea! Though, nav volume is one of the problems I am trying to solve. I know I could utilize this with other input data for other stuff (trigger zone generation). Basically, I am looking for a pre-processing tool that would - given some input, return some grouped volumetric output.

Parent rotated? You seem to be using Global positioning, it won't mirror the parent rotations.

Oh, the Constant Force idea is awesome, though, not always desired. Initial force... is it a Configurable Joint property or should I add a script that will hit the button upon Start()?

comment How can I create borders in an open-world game that don't feel artificial?
The #1 can also be changed into a not so dense, but huge forest. Not so dense, but huge city. This will make the wandering part somewhat boring. Though, you could slip an easter egg or two in there - a secret zone or something. The water, though, is the easiest of the options, and a distant island is the ultimate e-egg. :D
