is our hero able to get out of the trapped area or just tries to? (trying to get out would be fairly normal->for example partial paths) If on the other hand he is actually getting out then I would suggest making the border of your trap area (including doors etc) not walkable. That should do it for any normal pathfinder. lol I forgot to look at the image. Yea just make the wall not walkable and he won't be able to path out of there.
