IMO you got a problem here if an event poller eats up 100% CPU. What's your framerate? Do you have a small Sleep(2) in the mail loop? SDL can be really slow if you don't convert all graphics to the screen resolution but an event handler taking CPU speed seems weird.

comment What makes Unity3D games look so similar?
It can also be people go with all default parameters for the physics, making movement look the same as other Unity games.

comment Shadows go through meshes, and also being applied to itself
This seems to be normal behaviour for stencil shadows. Normally the platforms would Also shadow their underside + parts of platforms under them. A hack would be to cap the extrusion to somewhere in the middle of the platform.

No problem Dean Knight, it is also nice for other people browsing the internet finding answers that might suit them :-) Cheers!

Forget it, I'll guess it isn't on the chart asking a question in a comment.

I'm a programmer, I know how to build tools but I know even better to not do it when there are already tools out there that will do the job (and sometimes even whole communities making them better). Thanks anyway. Now, SO / GameDev seems to have closed its doors for this kind of questions (which, if they don't turn into flamewars are very useful I think), may it be that way. Bye.
