comment How can I render a model on top of another model regardless of their relative Z positions?
But you should be aware that for example your model will be also drawn without depth buffer. So triangles further from you may override those which are closer. It depends on draw-order. You may get something like this: tomdalling.com/wp-content/uploads/depth-buffer-disabled.png

Maybe I'm missing something, but what part of code is redundant? And if you want to do the same thing for all components, you can just create singleton class ;)

comment Finding the shorter turning direction towards a target
Just off-topic: You are telling that rotation should wrap around if it exceeds. For example -3.2 becomes 0.06. Shouldn't it be 3.08 (= PI - 0.06)?

comment Why does my sprite shake while moving?
As Matt suggested, your "delta" variable is int. You are using this in division by other int (at the end of function), so floating part will be just removed. You should definitely try to change "int" to "float" or "double".

comment How are 3D models created in video games?
Yeah. Sure. You need to load, parse and somehow represent model. Also somehow draw it on screen. So definitely - you have to blend between animation. You usualy also use some inverse kinematics, but that are more specific problems.
