Hi guys. Get all your coding and game development done before the children come along.

I'm serious.

You CAN'T code with kids in the house.

Go, go do it now, before it's too late.

comment Matrix transforms with SpriteBatch overloading - how do you rotate/zoom around a point?
you have two vectors called origin (one with an uppercase 'O'), are they different?

comment GLM Velocity Vectors - Basic Maths to Simulate Steering
Yes, adding a velocity vector to a position results in a new position. (This is greatly simplifying the laws of motion, but it'll get you going)

in this example, the vector v1 is (xspeed, yspeed) and n=(circlex-xpos,circley-ypos), where (circlex, circle) is the position of the centre of the circle. v2 will be the new (xspeed, yspped)

i've offered two possible optimisation below, but suspect @LumpN is correct and there is something else going on.

thinking about it a bit more, I think you are correct; expectation is the problem. "Game Dev sounds like fun!", until you're asked to build a view matrix. We can expect them to have a genuine interest in something they haven't hade much chance to be exposed to.

comment Establish a person's genuine interest in game programming
We have a moderately high high-school maths requirement for applicants, so in most cases its not ability that's lacking. (although we do have our fair share of those who just "don't get" coding. Or linear algebra. Or calculus. Or mechanics. Or...)

fair comment about interest v's expectations, but if someone is really interested at least they'll be prepared to put the required work in.

I've edited the image to indicate where the right angles are. The pink triangle looks distorted because of they way I am trying draw a 3D scene in 2D. The hypotenuse is always opposite the right angle.

@Sidar, Kinda, I'll edit the answer to make that step clearer.

comment Line Intersection from parametric equation
x.n=c looks a bit like the point normal form of a plane (I can't think what else it might be), why are you using that? Are you trying to find the intersection of a line and a plane?

comment How do I calculate distance from a point to a rectangle?
I agree it is an inelegant solution, but the mechanism might be a bit clearer to a beginner than shorter or more elegant approaches I have seen. It is however the only answer here to the questioners problem so far.

You matrices look good (I compared them the ones produces by glOrtho and glTranslate. Grapsing at straws here, but opengl expects its matrices to arranged in column-major order, are you doing the same?

comment XNA Sprite Clipping Incorrectly During Rotation
@KevinB, I can't reproduce this behaviour. If I move my sprite (rotated by -45deg) towards the left, it just moves off the edge of the screen like one would expect. No sudden disappearances.

Well constructed question, but maybe we could see your projection & world matrices. You mentioned them above, but didn't include their contents. The problem will be with one of those matrices.

Hey @EricB, I've fixed the error you pointed out, how about undoing your downvote?
