My website http://iki.fi/sol/ contains more information about me, tons of source code, tutorials, binaries for various game and demo projects I've done, and.. stuff.

comment Tons of textures using vbo
Common solution would be to separate "static" and "dynamic" geometry. Lots of cheap static geometry and small amount of more expensive dynamic geometry.

comment OpenGL - Drawing multiple meshes at once using VBOs and IBOs
Note that if you're using a (sane) artist pipeline, you can just combine the meshes in the modelling package before exporting.

Well, basically you could combine everything into single static meshes, but there are always cases where things aren't that simple, for instance visibility optimization like you mention.

comment What are the challenges and benefits of writing games with a functional language?
An anonymous user tried to edit this answer wiping the "ugly" part. "The garbage collector in Haskell is now concurrent, parallel, and generational as of 2011 (ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/blog/new-gc-preview)";

Unfortunately many of those scalers have restrictive licenses (such as gpl)

comment How would I go about updating my electronic circuit simulator's 'electricity'?
@GustavoMaciel I hear you, and for single questions, sure, but circuit simulation is a bit too big topic for a single q/a.

comment Are there any reasons to use Legacy (2.X) OpenGL?
I have a different opinion: 1.x has plenty of uses still and is most widely supported. 2.x can be forgotten. If you need shaders, go 3.x.

comment Maximum sensible audio sample rate
Interesting. My thought was that due to over-using compression we're pretty much losing bit depth, so adding bits would "kind of" help with that.

comment Maximum sensible audio sample rate
I have to wonder if that 16/24bit audible difference is partially due to loudness wars =)

Spriteworks/forge people are not willing to help with these kinds of things?

If they do what they claim and easily solve your art asset problem, I wouldn't say that at $20-$50 they're "not worth their cost".
