comment Unity UI vanishes when the camera Z exceeds 1000
Could be a camera issue, check your render distance maybe? or render order, the UI could be getting hidden behing objects around the 1000z position.

comment How can I detect collision between two objects
Check out the collision section on the unity docs: docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Collider.OnCollisionEnter.html This depends on if you are using 3D or 2D(just add a "2D" onto the end) and you will also need to look up rigidbodys and add colliders to your objects.

comment Unity3D - Change player input axes on trigger
So your Vector3 movement code is probably the what needs to change if you want the player controls to be the same but the movement to be different. Right now you are applying the movements to the (horizontal, 0f, vertical) positions, if you want to make the vertical movement affect the y axis instead then it needs to be new Vector3(horizontal, vertical, 0f); or something along those lines

Yep that worked, thanks for the insight, quick question, Would I just apply a could texture layer on top of the astroids layer and blur that to get the cloudiness in that photo? or do you know of a better way to do it?

I'll read up on them then, do know of any good resources off the top of your head? Also if this is going to solve my problem you should throw this in as an answer so I can mark it once I've done some reading.

Are shaders not just full screen effects, wouldn't that make everything blurry if was to use them? or could I just apply it to specific layers? I guess I'm not really all that familiar with them so I assumed I couldn't.

comment How do I add scripting logic to my dialogue tree?
Not sure about javascript, but you should search for delegates or their equivalent in javascript. In c# you could just have a delegate assigned to a script call or something along those lines.

comment How to demo Advanced Game AI as a portfolio piece?
Ya I agree with most of what you have to say, but graphics totally matter, although you can get away with graphics that are not quite top notch if there is a style to them (ex. think polygonal art or minecraft)

comment How to apply a script to multiple Objects in Unity?
You should take a look at prefabs, before you get to deep into your game, they are easy to pick up and will save you a ton of time. A quick run down would be, if you have an item that you want to have multiple copies of, drag it into the project panel, each time you drag that item that was created into the hierarchy panel it will create a new instance of it. If you make changes to the item and apply them it will carry over across all of those objects.

Alright thanks, I did see that one, but wasn't sure if they were GM:Studio specific or just game makers (as a profession), I will definitely check it out.
