My interests:

Comedy and Art:

I decided back in March/April, 2012 to combine Comedy with Art and start writing/drawing my own comics.

Web Development:

I wanted my own unique place to share these comics, so I started learning PHP to create my own website- Hitting Trees with Sticks.com, which I recently launched. Big thanks to the the Stackoverflow community for all of your guidance and encouragement.

Mandarin Chinese: (Moderator♦ on Chinese SE)

I've also been learning Mandarin Chinese for 6 years and have spent some time over in Taiwan (5 months) and Beijing (2 weeks). I was given the opportunity to provide interpretation for General Electric at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. To give back to StackExchange, I've recently become active in helping out on the Chinese Language and Usage site (http://chinese.stackexchange.com/).

@JoeSwindell No, I'm saying, you need to complete quest 1 to get to quest 2, quest 2 to get quest 3... but each quest comes with n NPCs that you can talk to at any time per that quest. Each NPC comes with a set of sub tasks that you need to complete for him or her. Once all tasks are completed for all NPCs, you advance to the next Quest. Once you complete all quests given in a Level, you move on to the next Level. That's why I said the only not linear progression is the NPCs per quest.

comment RPG: store dialog
Thank you. From a piracy perspective, if I store my dialog in .json files and load on demand/as needed (ie: talking to NPC1, load NPC1 dialog), do people still have client-side access to the text? I thought that only happens if I put everything in a JS object and load. I guess there's no difference.

@JoeSwindell Joe can you also explain your NPC table? How can I provide finite columns for quests per npc_id if each quest has varied amounts of NPCs (quest1 produces 4 NPCs, quest2 produces 2 NPCs, etc)... Thanks

@JoeSwindell why do you recommend clearing up the userstats table as such?

comment Web single player 2d top-down RPG - background image, sprites, and new level loading
I'm using createJS/EaselJS right now for a library. But it doesn't seem to provide easy tilemap loading and drawing support. Which library is the easiest to implement the tilemap? Should I use Canvas Engine over Create JS? I tried following this tutorial (gamedev.tutsplus.com/tutorials/implementation/…) to write my own interpreter, but it's an Action Script 3 tut... so some of the methods/libraries he uses I don't have access to.

comment How do I keep my character centred on screen?
Hi Byte, I've implemented what you said with success... I think. But now I'm running into issues... can you help take a look? One guy said I actually don't need any cam variables... and offered an alternative method... stackoverflow.com/questions/18199373/…
