I am a programmer. I am a software architect. I am a father.

C# and SQL are my languages of choice. I prefer Stored Procedures, compile time over runtime errors, tight and clean over multifunctional, and finally Coke over Pepsi.

I currently work for Magenic and am doing Windows Phone and Windows 8 development in my spare time.

odesk.com and elance.com are also pretty good. We got several writers/copy editors for some of our site content through oDesk and 1 was awesome, 2 were good, and 1 was wretched. We started with 4 small tasks and build up until we have the awesome one working 1/2 time for us now.

+1 for a blast from the past. I remember looking at those tutorials back in the late 90s. Great link!

comment How do I get into Facebook game development?
+1 on the Graph API, but that is related to the environment your game will live in more than the game itself.

comment Can I develop Linux + Windows games using C#, .NET and OpenGL?
.NET is not the same as the .NET Framework. If you will edit your answer above to match the title of the Wikipedia entry you reference, and state that the full .NET Framework is not supported except on Windows, then I will gladly agree with you because you are correct. But ".NET is Windows specific." is incorrect.

When you talk to him, you might also mention that the personal page pointed to in his bio (rmichaelyoung.com) doesn't exist anymore either.

Sorry, but Mono is .NET and not Windows specific. From their front page: Mono is an open source implementation of Microsoft's .NET Framework based on the ECMA standards for C# and the Common Language Runtime. mono-project.com/Main_Page

comment Has anyone used MonoTouch for a game?
Yep, that is one of the reasons I have shied away as well. But the though of a triple is making me consider it again. The Mono project states: As MonoTouch does not hide native APIs and is not an abstraction layer, we continue to believe that MonoTouch conforms to the spirit and intent of the terms spelled out in the developer agreement.
