comment How much memory usage is too much in a Flash game?
I suggest you change the title to reflect the actual question, i.e. "How much memory usage is too much?"

Erm, it's not a corporate site, so I try to avoid IE7 and IE6, so for simplicity's sake, ie8, webkit, and the latest version of safari.

Nice, I had no idea the api for the audio stuff was so simple for basic stuff, I'll have to persue that.

comment Examples of interesting implementations of character stats?
I like the simplicity of the health/sanity concept, and the purpose that that brings to the game, which is, presumably running away/surviving as best you can.

Personally, I've kinda settled on the idea of leaving intelligence "stats" as aspects of the character that have to be intelligently/tactically acheived by the player... In other words, if you want your character to seem smart, make them act smart using your own intelligence. If you want them to seem stupid, have them act stupid. If you're not that smart yourself, that's a limitation your character is going to share... Perhaps that's mainly because it's hard to imagine how really really intelligently stated characters should make such stupid decisions.
