As for the game itself, you can find a video of its current state here: youtube.com/watch?v=1jyG4kZ8GoE&;

comment Procedurally generated 2d terrain for side scroller on Sega Genesis hardware?
Hi there. I'm aware of that technique. I might use it to reduce the rom usage of "regular" areas. My question would apply to the areas in between, kinda like transitional areas.

The idea wouldn't be to calculate the whole map and save it in ram. It would be just to easily and quickly calculate just the visible parts. 42 rows of 24 tiles.

@arthur: For #3, the idea is to save rom space by calculating in real time. I'm limited by 4 megabytes of rom space.

Works for me. I also found Skeleton 1.1 by Nick Koza.

The genesis has a bit to say if any sprites overlapped, but it can't tell which ones. So that's out. Plus, it's sprite-tile collisions so the bit couldn't be used for that.

comment How to do reflective collisions with particles hitting background tiles?
Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, it's not exactly what I'm looking for. In my case I'm working with a very low power CPU (Sega Genesis 68000 running at 7mhz) and doing all those dot products and multiplications and normal calculations are going to be bog slow. I'll try to clear up my question to better explain what I need.
