The n is always the amount of data you add to the algorithm. I see what you're getting at, but you will confuse people if you change the semantics this way. If I heard O(N^2) in relation to images I would immediatly think about blurfilters etc.

comment How can I do a weighted cascade down a path in a 3D environment?
Is there an optimal path? I.e is one path better than another? Are you guaranteed to have 40 linked cubes? Is the edge between one cube and another directed (I.e cubeA.left = cubeB does this imply cubeB.right = cubeA)?

Not really sure I get what you want here. Provide us with a sample image, with the code/array you would want from that. It would make it easier for us to help you.

Although your statement is correct I wanted to point out that even though the lengths double, the data size (as well as run time) quadruples. There is a 1 to 1 relationship between data size and run time complexity. This is called O(n) (Big-O n) in case OP wants to read about this.

comment Unity Mecanim Glitch
You should read this: docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Manual/RootMotion.html The anim.SetFloat("Speed", 1) should trigger the correct animation, but it's not given that it will actually move your model.

comment How can AI compute movement in 2D games
Are you constrained to a grid? Does the AI know where the player is, or should the AI 'explore' the game field? Do you need to predict where the player is going, or is a simple 'straight towards' strategy (heuristic) sufficient? Should the AI try to not get hit? That's a few questions for you :)

Extremely late comment, but I believe the length of my post sums to about 1137 bytes. At least in UTF-8 ;)

comment Is there an optimum set of colors for 10 players?
This does not take color blindness into consideration I presume? A very interesting answer none the less.

comment How do I calculate distance from a point to a rectangle?
A measure of distance is already implicitly there. if (d2<10*10) {/*within 10 units of measure*/}

This would only be a logical representation of the model. How you choose to render it is entirely up to you. If you need a fined 'resolution' let's say you want to be able to have three 'dots' in one 'wall width' then simply use three characters as the with of 'one unit' and as such a solid horizontal wall would go from (###) for the three first to ex ( # # # )
