comment What is a good starting platform for a teenage game programmer?
Good suggestions. That said, I started with C (not that there were real alternatives back then) and it really wasn't so painful; of course, that's not a reason to use it now that there are higher level languages.

comment How many achievements should I include, and of what challenge?
@BjornWesen: bragging is VITAL for the achievements. If it didn't happen before is only because it couldn't. And, as Nicol noticed, there were other ways.

comment Are there any preexisting maps for a Minecraft-like level I could use in my engine?
In that case you can modify an editor changhing its output. I guess it would be slightly easier than doing the other way around.

Awesome, but I sincerly doubt anything of value in this area can be accomplished with 8x8 pixels.

comment Can you recommend a game server for a facebook board game?
Slightly vague.

comment Secure login for a game that is open source
@thedaian you could not be more wrong. Being open source is completely irrelevant to the login system you use, since security by obscurity is wrong anyway.

comment Best solution for multiplayer realtime Android game
I don't think it could be done via bluetooth, I doubt it supports broadcasts: AFAIK it only connects one single host to another, have a very low max connections amount, and is slow.

Please write "JavaScript" as a single word, to avoid confusion.

comment Game server position tracking
You haven't read Valve's networking document bit.ly/valveudp you are supposed to understand it, if you're going to do that sort of game.

comment Game engine design: Multiplayer and listen servers
"In most dedicated servers, a user with the same IP cannot connect to the dedicated server (meaning, the client must either host the server, or play, they cannot do both)." WAT? Where? Why? If some servers have this apparently senseless arbitrary limitation, it doesn't mean he would be forced to do the same when he writes one...

comment Is there a pattern for writing a turn-based server communicating with n clients over sockets?
If you use a TCP socket per client, wouldn't this cap to (65535-1024) clients?

comment What data structure should I use for a Diablo/WoW-style talent tree?
@JonathanHobbs: the point here is having an int primary key, it doesn't really matter if it's autoincremented or not.

(which I can't do due to the stupid "modify at least 6 characters" rule)

comment Is Domain Driven Design good for games?
+1, it becomes a valid answer just adding a "No" at its beginning.

comment What tools are available for developing 2D games like Tetris or Angry Birds for Android?
On the other hand, Eclipse is by many people considered an awful software. I prefer to use a non-IDE editor and compiling command-line.
