93.3333 degrees that's why they call me Mr. Celsius

Just like "I was just following orders" was not an excuse, "My religion claims I had to do it" is neither. If you behave as an offensive bigot, you are an offensive bigot. Petty excuses will not be tolerated. Ramen.

comment How to structure a simple game server for a multiplayer game?
@Bart: partly true, but of course there should be a cap on how much lag you artificially introduce, or slower connections could constantly force quicker connections to lag too much, which is definitely now what you want.

@jwenting: what on earth are you talking about? mysql is free, period. You may decide to pay for a "pro" license or stuff like that, but it's by no means required!

comment Database for increased scalability in a mmorpg?
@Hack: I agree it has to be closed anyway, I was just pointing out that closing it won't make the downvotes stop, which I thought (perhaps incorrectly) you were implying.

@Hack: even when it's closed, it will be still downvotable.

comment Legality of using names in a game?
-1 I'm sorry, nothing personal, but... this is wrong on so many levels. You shouldn't give carelessly legal advice, especially if it is utterly and completely made up out of nowhere (and completely wrong) like this one.

I fail to see how this should help. Looks like it is a "instant-rollback", while the OP asked for something smooth like Braid's one. Maybe I misread something?

comment How forcefully should a single-player engine reject invalid data?
This is a very good suggestion, which applies only to some scenarios (i.e. big or medium/big productions) though.

comment Time limit on puzzle games: yea or nay?
Awarding stars for completing faster a randomly-generated puzzle, rewards those who were lucky enough to get an "easier" version of the puzzle. Awarding stars for completing faster a static puzzle of course makes no sense because you can just re-do it once you have the solution (unless there is action involved).
