comment How to shade hair (line segments) correctly in GLSL
@congusbongus Could you explain why line segments don't need anisotropic lighting? With them you get the tangents naturally from the data, but the lighting model should still be the same. Check the pictures from ftp.sgi.com/opengl/contrib/blythe/advanced99/notes/node154.html. Btw the original question doesn't use view direction at all, which sounds wrong.

comment Rotating and scaling textures built up of pixel arrays in java?
Why would you not use Graphics2D and AffineTransform? That would perform a lot better than is possible with any custom solution.

comment How can I constrain motion to a path formed from multiple splines?
@Morphex Yes. 2D logic with 3D rendering is often pretty good solution. Gameplay in 2D is simpler for the player and easier to implement for you.

Are you asking how to load some specific file formats or asking how to provide non-RGB data to OpenGL?

You should swap the for loops so that the inner loop is horizontal, as that would be more cache friendly.

comment Calculation technique for 2D inertia tensors?
I think you can drop matrices and tensors, as moment of inertia in 2D is just a scalar.

Check out Half-edge data structure. While it's not a ready solution for your problem, it should give some inspiration on how to modify your data structure to fit the given problem.
