Sure, you could add isometric sprites to square tiles. But since sprites are diamond shaped and the tiles aren't you're going to have a lot of "dead" space around your sprites, unless you position sprites in a way, that they can overlap more than one tile (but that kinda defeats the purpose of a tile-based game). Traditionally, the isometric sprites take up the whole tile, that's why tile and sprite have the same shape.

comment Is it possible to export a simulation (animation) from Blender to Unity?
@MrPablo I'd probably use something like a ring buffer and preload the first batch of meshes into it. Then start playback and load more meshes into the buffer during playback, while destroying/unloading the meshes that are no longer needed.

@MrPablo I think you would be better off loading the files directly instead of going the inspector/drag'n'drop route. You can leverage Unitys Resources for this. Depending on the mesh complexity and the target hardware you'll probably face memory issues very soon and you'll have to implement some clever adaptive loading to play 15k "frames".

@MrPablo The animation "frames" should be all the mesh states.. so yes, element 0 would be the initial mesh. Frame Duration is the duration of one frame in seconds. So for an animation with 12 frames per second it's 0.0833 (1.0 / 12)
