Okay I will look into doing that. Passing in level into the player.update. I was thinking it might be easier to make Level class have a static Player player in the header. So I could have multiple levels with the player in them.

Byte56 I was more worried about computational costs. Like I have to call PerlinNoise 4 times every frame versus say storing a 100x100 array or even 4 * 100x100 array. I was under the impression that PerlinNoise was expensive calculation. But, it seems to have no effect on my fps. But, then I was told that fps is misleading.

comment Box2D body jitters when colliding with static body
If you posted code I could help more. When you reach a boundary you should have a vector perpendicular to the boundary and add it to the body movement. You can do it so the force slowly increases until you hit the boundary.
