I like computer programming and playing guitar! Currently i'm studying Computer Science at UNICAL. I would like to become a well-skilled game developer

That's great, thank you. However, how can I trigger an event from the code? In the video example, how can I trigger the "enter the door" event from c++? In the youtube video, when an event is triggered (or you modify certain properties, like the "position" bar), the layers change: for example the engine sound becomes louder. This is exactly what I need, because the track is the same, but you have more "configurations" encoded.

I think this is a good and (relatively) fast way to implement an ai, mentioned also in many books (evaluate something, give it a worth and multiply values). Thank you

I tried this: "montage frame*.png -background none -tile 8x sheet.png" and it creates a sprite sheet with normal sized sprites where they are also squared :) Thank you very much, this is a powerful tool!

Great! This is what I'm searching for, thank you. But I have a little issue: I write -geometry 59x59 because the biggest 'x' value is 59, but what I get is this : s8.postimage.org/e59ul5akl/sheet.png . As you can see, all the sprites are resized to 59x59, is it possible to maintain the orignal values and only add some blank space?(so all the sprite has their original values, but with blank spaces their'll be squared on the sheet!)

Yes, I've tried but it means that the entire sprite sheet has a square format! (and trying it, nothing changed)

Yes I've already seen it, but it detects the sprites.. so it exports them with irregular dimensions!

Yes, but in an rpg I don't think that a fuzzy approach would be optimal! We have about 10-15 parameters to cover-up! So even if fuzzy logic can be used, I have to do a big work, covering all those parameters [create Fuzzy linguistic variables etc]! With a utility-based system the only work is to construct a formula that can represent an evaluation!

comment Should NPC dialog be stored in XML or in a script?
Thanks for this example! Having also a similar example on a scripting language such as Lua would be great. (I would like to know how scripting languages can be more powerfull than a XML format file)

yes, I mean script such as Lua! @JoshPetrie you're right, but I've only gave an example not the true format. (it was just for saying that each kind of dialogue has a tag and contains the text itself, so I can read easily the right text from java )

I didn't know that gamefaqs has this kind of stuff! For example I found Final Fantasy XIII battle mechanics. Very helpful
