comment XNA: How does threading work?
I would advise against multithreading your game like that. I've found the best way to do these things is to work in a task based fashion (issue a task which may be executed concurrently to the main thread, wait on the task when results are needed). A friend of mine wrote a task library for XNA which we use in all our games and it makes things a lot easier, it also outperforms the Microsoft Task Parallel Library in some tests! paralleltasks.codeplex.com

@Bart, I believe introversion said they were willing to be a bit flexible with creations from the source, if you create a standalone game, demo it to the IV guys to prove that it's not just a Darwinia rip off, I'd imagine they may well let you release it.

@Gabriel, why's it a brutal license? The game is still commercial, introversion just happen to be being rather nice and allowing people access - they can't afford to lose sales by letting people give out the compiled source willy nilly.
