comment Best Way to allow players to “Dye” images without losing color quality?
For extracting the highlights you can take the mask you previously extracted and filter it so you are only left with the brightest components.

comment Best Way to allow players to “Dye” images without losing color quality?
It is potentially possible to automate it by finding the dominant colors and extracting them (by using a reverse "color to alpha" algorithm). But it's not like I've ever implemented something like that.

comment How can I avoid texture stretching when adding high-resolution support via a mod?
Most old games already have a way of using any resolution, but the resolution settings are limited to 2 or 3 specific resolutions. So it all just boils down to changing 2 numbers in the executable.

@KromStern Point is, it looks awful if you do it, always.

Color shifting is a very difficult topic because most of the image information is conveyed by brightness, and simple hue shifting doesn't preserve the brightness. Different hues have different inherent brightness values. You need more sophisticated algorithms for that.

comment How do you calculate the rotational velocity of a flying object?
Found the error, the rotation itself needs to changed, not the rotation speed. Code looks like this now: gist.github.com/API-Beast/634e78f5d408f3387b83

comment How do you calculate the rotational velocity of a flying object?
I tried to implement this, it seems to work however I have the problem that it happens frequently that it goes into a kind of overdrive where it just keeps increasing the speed of rotation, e.g. spins to death. My code looks like this: gist.github.com/API-Beast/634e78f5d408f3387b83

Wait, wouldn't direction.length and rotation.length always be 1?
