comment How closely can a game resemble another game without legal problems?
@NicolBolas thanks for your comment; your sarcasm is much appreciated. When questions are labelled as duplicate of this at the rate of 1-2 per year, it is concerning that the accepted answer is outdated. Last I checked, outdated answers are an unsolved problem for SE, and don't need to be defended with vitriol.

comment Is there a way to make a dynamic world such as a MMORPG horizontally scalable?
@Dokkat it is interesting, but also keep in mind the cons: it's new and a bit obscure, the cost is not clear, it's not the 'normal' way of doing things, and by using it one may be ceding control/responsibility over a critical piece of code.

I saw this on HackerNews a little while ago: paralleluniverse.co They are working on a database that does all of the spatial segmentation/distribution stuff for you. I would guess that under the hood, they're doing all of the things in the answers below.

It looks like you need to have the rooms easily query-able by their position. I'd suggest a Map<Vector2d,Room> for quick and dirty, but you might want to put together a sorted array of sorted arrays.

comment HTML5/JS - Choppy Game Loop
I am not seeing any stuttering. When I look at your prototype, the UPS is always 60, and the FPS floats between 58 and 59. I'm using Firefox 17 on Windows 7 64-bit.

comment Is there an IDE that can simplify the process of creating a game matchmaking website?
I have a hard time believing that there would be a benefit to using wildly different technologies for the match/chat stuff as for the game. I, personally, would only use HTML/JS for the game room if I were planning on implementing the game in it as well. I don't have experience with this, though, so this isn't an answer.

There have been martial arts books with diagrams for centuries, if you just need inspiration I'd suggest googling for medieval martial arts. It's worth noting that perfect historical accuracy won't serve you particularly well, since greek war was mainly fought in a phalanx formation. A quick search turns up this: hurstwic.org/history/articles/manufacturing/text/…

comment Isometric projection bad coordonate
I haven't done isometric projection before, but shouldn't the tile_height and tile_width be the height and width of the tile sprite?

There's a good collection of .cg shaders, including those two, here: github.com/libretro/common-shaders

I notice an interesting difference in the calculations here. Your code calculates the projection as [x+y, y-x-z] where the code in the question uses [x-y, x+y-z]

Is the shade of brown or black significant? Or are you treating the map as 2 colour?
