comment Good resources for learning modern OpenGL (3.0 or later)?
The 6th edition of the SuperBible has just been released and it is MUCH better than the 5th edition. I highly, highly recommend it, it's easy to following and learn modern OpenGL with.

comment What advantages does bare OpenGL provide over frameworks/engines to small developers?
As a graduate student in game and graphics programming, I can attest to the complexities of learning OpenGL from scratch. If I was making an indy game today, I would absolutely use SDL or some other library. But I also understand much more about graphics today than I did when I started my studies, learning an API helped me quite a bit with understanding how GPUs work in general, and how hardware and software interact. But to make a commercial product, I would absolutely use a 3rd party library at this point.

Yes, I find the online tutorials to be much more useful than most books. The SuperBible 5th edition is extremely disappointing.

comment What libraries and tools does LISP have that's usefull for games?
They dropped GOAL when they were bought by Sony. No telling what they would have done had they stayed independent. However, the designer of the language, Andy Gavin, retired soon after the acquisition, so I would guess they would have found an easier solution for PS3 development. From the notes he's posted on his website, it looks like maintaining GOAL was one of the hardest programming challenges in gaming history!

comment Efficient existing rating system for multiplayer?
Isn't a form of ELO used in the StarCraft 2 rating system? Actually, researching how SC2 ranks millions of players would probably be a good route to take.

comment Confusing Callbacks
Install the June 2010 DirectX SDK, and go to the Samples/C++/Direct3D10/Tutorials/ and look at Tutorials 8-14. These are designed to teach DXUT, but they were taken out of the corresponding Direct3D11 folder for some reason. That's the best I think you can do anymore since MSDN was stripped.

comment Alternatives to Component Based Architecture?
I've seen you say things like this in your Digipen videos before Sean - excellent advice. Architectures are a means to an end, and that end is a game.
