comment How do I get this effect in Unity3D?
It looks like you are using a GUI library which is probably creating a Camera specifically for the gui buttons. Use that camera and render a GUITexture or better yet a planar Mesh and use a gradient with alpha falloff in a material. You can probably also make the gradient texture 1px tall and set it to Wrap instead of Clamp in the texture properties window.

comment When is it best to load screens in mobile games?
Constructive comments are posted below but the basic philosophy is "why do work if there's a possibility it's not necessary or needed". I would recommend using AssetManager to help with keeping your game running smoothly.

comment How to create a 3D world with 2D sprites similar to Ragnorak online?
That looks like a significant amount of work. You would need 8 sides for each character and for each animation set. The 2d tileset would depend on character orientation in relation to the camera.

It sounds like you are just getting started on the idea but the format is called isometric so maybe start by searching on "unity3d isometric game"

comment Is it worth planning to be cross-platform in mobile game development?
Stating that there are 'tons of reasons' for or against any platform sounds a bit fanatical. I would be interested in knowing what you are thinking of specifically. Any platform is strengths and weaknesses but not everyone has thousands of dollars for pro licenses and such. Unity is a good platform for certain games but obviously it's not for everyone, I realize this but it may be worthwhile unless you want to handle significant plumbing on your own...

Unity basic license for Android and iOS is free for a few weeks.. I realize you seem to be against it (assuming cost) but once you write a few apps for a specific platform, you may change your mind.

comment libgdx spite position relative to body
Are you updating your physics world in your render loop? You might need to implement a fixed timestep for the physics update as well. It's difficult to tell what's wrong without posting code.

comment What are the drawbacks of this messaging system implementation?
I agree with John, you may have to manage proper de-allocation of the events or they will build up can cause you to see confusing behavior.
