comment Functional reactive programming (FRP) in games. Some doubts and thoughts
Artemis is just a component-based entity management system. I don't think it's related to functional reactive programming.

comment Is ruby a suitable language for game development?
@Neverender, that's not entirely true. He did make the argument that Python simply has a bigger userbase and more libraries already completed for game development. I believe these are legitimate observations to make when giving advice to somebody who has no experience in game development.

comment Is there an XNA-like library for Java?
Slick isn't as well-known and appreciated as it should be. I've used it before and was pleasantly surprised at every turn how well it was designed. It's because of Slick that I prefer Java for 2D game development.

comment Programming the combat sequence in a role playing game

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't decided to use it yet, so I'll keep this in mind.

Oh there's no need to apologize. I can understand how you might get that impression from the brief description I had. You were right about the cloud storage, though, of course.

@The Communist Duck: No, not really. The world is not made of blocks at all. The "basic construction aspects" come in the form of city planning. If it's similar to another game, it's similar to Animal Crossing, not Minecraft. @phtrivier: It seems to me like it would work for data to be saved only every five minutes or so with no interaction between client and server between those saves.
