Many RPGs and MMOs offer a system for creating a character model, with varying levels of customization. Are there any open source libraries for this? Any libraries which can be licensed? Has anyone built anything related to this themselves?

I think this question won't bring useful answers as is. Try changing it a bit, in particular, ask about methods for handling different clothing and facial morphing that RPG's usually implement in their editors. I would be interested in that answer as well :) – DevilWithin Feb 26 '11 at 23:11

Unity has an example on their website that implements this, and the code is redistributable:
