In my search for a good HTML5 game engine, the only one I can find that has decent features, has good documentation, and isn't in alpha is RenderEngine. However, I barely ever hear about it. Is it just relatively unknown, or is there some glaring reason more people aren't using it? What has your experience been like?

Many good questions generate some degree of opinion based on expert experience, but answers to this question will tend to be almost entirely based on opinions, rather than facts, references, or specific expertise. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

Do you have a more specific question? Like, "can RenderEngine do this"? – Tetrad Jan 11 '11 at 15:51
@Tetrad: No, I'm just asking for anyones' general experiences with it. There are countless questions like this, I don't think it's bad if it's not incredibly specific. – ryeguy Jan 11 '11 at 15:56
Is there a reason for all of the downvotes here? I don't think this is an illegitimate question. – ryeguy Jan 11 '11 at 16:11
It has the only problem of being very localized - HTML5 isn't exactly production stable (or at least, hasn't been for a long time) so there's few people who have developed on it. – The Communist Duck Jan 11 '11 at 16:36
Hm, I think localized isn't what I meant. >.< It's certainly not in widespread use, yes, meaning few people are going to use it out of web developers, and thus very few are going to have used RenderEngine. To answer the question, the glaring reason is that HTML5 is not in widespread use. – The Communist Duck Jan 11 '11 at 16:50

RenderEngine like many other HTML5 game engines is still relatively new and unknown. That is why you haven't heard much about it. Just looking at it I can't really comment on how well it performs.

As it stands, the best place to find out information about it would be it's message board: or the Google Code Issues Page:
