Game Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional and independent game developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I was developing till now using XNA, but now that Microsoft abandons it i understand that i need to find another framework. Because i'm not familiar with other frameworks (except directX) i would like to here from more experienced developers what are the other options developing games in C# ?

Do you have any recommendations ?

I know this questions seems not constructive but in fact i think it is a very relevant question for many developers that are not familiar with other frameworks and looking to migrate to something that is not XNA.

I saw all these threads and many more before asking, there is no answer in any of them, some recommend ShrapDX, some MonoGame others don't know. I want to understand what is the intention of microsoft, sharp and mono are open source things that have no relation to microsofot – OopsUser Mar 6 at 20:08

@OopsUser Than you should have seen that a few of those were closed because the answers would just be speculation. Same with this question. Once Microsoft announces something, then we'll know, but as of yet (to my knowledge) nothing has been announced. – Byte56 Mar 6 at 20:18

XNA is still available for use you know. It's just not getting any future development, but that doesn't mean that you have to stop using it. – mh01 Mar 6 at 21:00

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

Some open source versions of XNA:

http://monogame.codeplex.com/

If you want to develop games in C# you can also use Unity.
