Game Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional and independent game developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm currently brainstorming a game idea and I have stuck in one place. I'd like to dynamically generate endless map which looks pretty much like the one in game Hill Climb Racing (Android) or like "Infinite Runner" (also Android).

I'd like to know how to generate such terrain using libGDX, what classes to use (Pixmap, TiledMap?). I know theory how to generate random terrain but I don't know tools inside libGDX :)

Thanks!

As per the FAQ, broad "How to make a particular kind of game" questions are considered off-topic for this site. –  Trevor Powell Jan 14 '13 at 10:31

I don't think it's "How to make a particular kind of game" type of question. I only ask about clues concerning particular map type generation using libGDX. I don't ask for tutorial how to make whole particular game. –  michajas Jan 14 '13 at 10:39

It sounds to me like you're asking how to generate the (continuous, no disjoint platforms like in Canabalt) terrain for an "infinite runner" game? If so that would be a much more answerable question. As it stands you're asking for "clues and articles" (which imply a list of answers, none of which would be authoritative, and thus the question the not appropriate here). –  Josh Petrie Jan 14 '13 at 17:00

Yes you are right. I didn't understand exacly what Trevor said and You clarified this. My bad :) So let me fix my question to more answerable one. –  michajas Jan 15 '13 at 12:22
