I am a c# programming student trying to find some inspiration for my character(s) in an XNA game i'm doing for my senior project. I already have an idea of the mechanics but I've never been very good at writing creatively and wonder what fellow programmers do for inspiration?

Look at other games, movies, magazines, books, dreams, board games, new technologies, and so on. There's no correct answer to this and isn't constructive. See the FAQ to learn what types of questions to ask here. – Byte56 Nov 23 '12 at 15:45
Also in our FAQ is a list of other places to ask this type of question. I just added the section recently so it might not have existed at the time you asked this question. It's an interesting question, but as Byte56 said, not a good fit for our Q&A format. – Ricket Nov 24 '12 at 5:27
