It would be great if you could answer. I am thinking of either Unity or Java, should I do one of those?

Jamie, sorry people are just down voting and not commenting, I don't know why they do that it's not very helpful to you. Anyway the reason people are down voting is because this type of question "which of X should I use?" are defined as off topic for the site. See the FAQ about what kinds of questions are on topic. It's very common to be in your position, but this is one of those things you'll have to research on your own. Sorry your introduction to GDSE wasn't better. Good luck! – Byte56 Jun 1 '12 at 14:21
Whichever language you already know is a good choice. As for comparing a pair of languages, you need to look at their features and how similar they are to what you already know. If you have no knowledge of programming then look at the local college for a computer course, you may even be able to sit in on lectures for free. Also, to live is to learn, if you don't know which to choose, pick both, start with one, learn it enough to make a tic-tac-toe game (or similar) and then learn the other. Knowing multiple languages is never a waste, you learn new things from each language. – Daniel Carlsson Jun 1 '12 at 15:47

First of all you should define the requirements for your project and what you don't want in your project. After this you could decide which architecture you want to use or somebody could help you decide which one you should use.

Could you please tell us the main requirements?

Also you might choose what language fits the most to yourself. You might work a long time on your project and you shouldn't get upset because the language doesn't fit your preference.

Do you mean Unity, the language or Unity, the Game-Engine?
