I'm looking for stuff like game maker, game salad and rpg maker VX & XP. my only limit is that it has to work on windows xp. I have those but they just don't seam to work for me. btw if it helps i'm working on a 2D platformer. thanks a million guys.

I'm confused. These have windows xp versions. Are you looking for a way to develop iPhone games on pc or something? – brandon Feb 23 '12 at 2:29

Game Maker should work on XP, not sure why it isn't.

There aren't very many 'easy' game creation programs out there. If you don't mind doing some hard work I would recommend XNA. It's REAL programming, none of that drag&drop kiddies stuff. ;)
