I have a BA degree, but no experience in developing computer games or computer programming. What topics do I need to learn to find a job related to computer game development? Where should I start?

(if it helps I have experience in painting and drawing.)

There are either too many possible answers, or good answers would be too long for this format. Please add details to narrow the answer set or to isolate an issue that can be answered in a few paragraphs. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

For starters, define what job/role you want. Like, I would assume from the "art student" bit that you want to be a game artist, but since you mention "computer programming" it's unclear. – jhocking May 29 '14 at 12:32

Start Drawing, Animating, constructing characters, build a portfolio. Have something to showcase your abilities, there is no real silver-bullet "skill". You need to show that you have passion for it and can do it well well.
